The workshop, which will be held at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Va., is called “Change Trees Can ReLeaf In – Mitigating Urban Challenges And Reaping The Benefits.” People from Virginia, North Carolina and Washington, DC, are expected to attend this year’s day-long workshop.

“While anyone with an interest in trees is welcome, this workshop will be of special interest to urban planners, landscape architects , landscape designers, and arborists. said Paul Revell, urban and community forestry manager with the Virginia Department of Forestry. “This year’s speakers are a remarkable group of urban forestry professionals. Jim Urban has received international acclaim for his work in establishing trees under challenging conditions in prominent urban settings such as the nation’s Capitol. Tom Smiley has received similar acclaim for his vast knowledge on tree establishment and tree health. ”

Through March 1st, early registration, which includes the workshop, lunch and a continental breakfast, is $70 for the general public. Additional discounts are available for students and municipal and non-profit employees. The rate increases to $80 after March 1st.
