Description

This session will be comprised of a guided bicycle tour of downtown Charleston on King Street. The tour will take you through historic neighborhoods, beautiful parks, and the MUSC campus. Stops along the way include Waterfront Park, Whitepoint Gardens, Colonial Lake, and the MUSC Urban Farm.

Learning Outcomes

1. Visit new and established public open spaces. Learn about historical Charleston landscape architecture.
2. Note the important features of a successful public realm including pavement widths, sidewalks, street trees and block lengths.
3. Study the contrasts between streets of different types -- some with provisions for bicycles and some without -- and the relative ease of negotiating each.
