Every year brings a new crop of plant introductions to ornamental horticulture. Why so many? Are they really different? Are they really better? Do we truly need all of these options?
We'll take a look at how and why new plants are bred and introduced to the industry. The presentation will include a review of basic plant breeding terms, a look at what technology is and isn't used for ornamental plant breeding, and a roadmap for evaluation and introduction of new flowering shrubs.
