Description
This 6.5-hour course focuses on flood-resistant design and construction techniques in Texas in accordance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and related building code requirements. The course focuses on design requirements from ASCE 7-22 and ASCE 24-24, foundation and elevation strategies, structural reliability considerations, and protection of building systems. The program concludes with guidance on flood-resistant materials, floodproofing methods, and resources for resilient construction.

Learning Outcomes
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain Texas floodplain management requirements, the role of the NFIP, and best building practices for flood-prone areas.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to apply ASCE 7-22 and ASCE 24-24 standards to determine design flood elevations, calculate flood loads, and design compliant building foundations.
