This is a detailed and thorough course designed to take anyone of any background and provide them a strong knowledge base on floodlights and floodlighting. Floodlights are high output directional luminaires and the most varied and versatile tool in an architect's or lighting designer's tool belt. As such is it vital that anyone specifying a floodlight understands the terminology, options, use cases, installation methods, and most importantly the safety and comfort considerations of each of those aspects.

Learning Outcomes
•Define the basic terminology used in lighting and floodlighting design.
•Recognize the key characteristics of quality floodlights and floodlighting.
•Determine which lighting aspects to consider based on your illumination objective. With an emphasis on creating safe, comfortable, and people friendly environments.
•Distinguish floodlight mounting methods and recognize appropriate lighting scenarios for each method as well as safety and comfort concerns of each.
•Describe the concept of glare and why it is a vital comfort and safety consideration when designing with floodlights, and identify methods of glare reduction.
•A guided discussion through real-world applications of floodlights, what works, what doesn't work, and what could be done differently. This is the opportunity to apply what was discussed prior to this conversation.
• At the end of this presentation, a strong foundation of all aspects of floodlights and floodlighting will be present. You will be familiar with their design, their hazards, and their many possibilities.
