This two-hour course explores five ethical areas for design professionals and provides guidance on how to navigate them. These include the duty to public health, safety and welfare, honesty and fair dealing, conflicts of interest, confidentiality and proprietary information, and responsible stewardship of project funds and resources.

Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of reporting unsafe conditions or code violations and how design decisions can directly impact public well-being.

Learning Outcome 2:
Learners will be able to avoid misrepresentations in drawings, certifications and proposals, and understand how to be transparent about errors or omissions.

Learning Outcome 3:
Learners will be able to identify potential conflicts of interest and disclose financial, familial or business interests that could bias professional judgement.

Learning Outcome 4:
Learners will be able to discuss the sharing of design details, trade secrets or cost data without authorization and the design professional's ethical obligations.
