Description
This course starts with an article listing great urban trees to be considered by landscape architects due to their resilience and past success thriving in urban conditions. This is followed by a discussion about the effort in Paris to prepare for the 2024 Olympics with major tree planting initiatives. Their goal of planning for new ‘urban forests’ and planting more than 170,000 trees by 2030 is discussed. And finally, this article discusses the importance of urban trees in fighting climate change, understanding forest edges and carbon storage. This is all information that can be used by landscape architects in their current practice.
