Description
This 6.5-hour course analyzes and explains the design and construction of swimming pools, including the permitting process, location, sizing, excavation, foundation design, waterproofing and the installation of recirculation equipment. The course highlights compliance strategies for codes and standards for pools and water features found in the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC), IBC and IRC.

Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1:
Learners will be able to explain the differences between permitting a residential pool versus a small commercial pool and identify changing requirements for such construction permits.
Learning Outcome 2:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with applicable codes and standards for swimming pools found in the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC), IBC and IRC.
Learning Outcome 3:
Learners will be able to consider the type of pool, desired uses, location, sizing and excavation requirements when designing a swimming pool.
Learning Outcome 4:
Learners will be able to analyze the construction of pool bases using steel cages, reinforcement, shotcrete, pour-in-place concrete and waterproofing strategies.
Learning Outcome 5:
Learners will be able to assess and utilize water recirculation equipment such as pumps, filters, heaters and disinfection techniques to maintain a healthy water quality.
