Description
This three-hour course explains how to read and interpret a geotechnical report, as well as identifies the components of an quality request for proposal (RFP) for geotechnical exploration. The course provides valuable tips and guidance when reading geotechnical reports and examines the science behind soil boring logs to provide a more thorough understanding of site conditions.

Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1:
Learners will be able to identify the contents of a request for proposal (RFP) for geotechnical exploration, including detailed descriptions of the project, site conditions, soil and groundwater (if available).
Learning Outcome 2:
Learners will be able to clearly define who is responsible for selecting the boring program in the RFP and review drilling procedures.
Learning Outcome 3:
Learners will be able to analyze soil boring logs in detail to gain a better understanding of the important elements beyond the executive summary.
Learning Outcome 4:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of the construction considerations portion of the report and understand that one should assume nothing in the reading of the report and contact the author if questions arise.
