This three-hour course examines the history and types of flood maps, the reading and interpreting of flood maps and flood insurance studies, the obtaining and use of flood maps, and how to work with letters of map change.

Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1:
Learners will be able to explore the history and types of flood maps, identify flood zones and discuss planning and needs.
Learning Outcome 2:
Learners will be able to read and interpret flood insurance studies to identify high-risk areas and utilize floodway data tables.
Learning Outcome 3:
Learners will be able to obtain and use flood maps to determine if a property is in a flood-hazard area.
Learning Outcome 4:
Learners will be able to discuss Letters of Map Change and when they are warranted, including Letters of Map Amendment and Letters of Map Revision.
