Description
This 6.5-hour course explores the causes, impacts and projections of coastal erosion and focuses on mitigation using living shorelines. The course will assess nature-based solutions and green infrastructure for controlling coastal erosion and dive deep into the design, implementation and management of living shorelines for a variety of site conditions.

Learning Outcome 1:
Learners will be able to identify the causes of coastal erosion and discuss projections for the future of coastal impacts.

Learning Outcome 2:
Learners will be able to explain the difference between green and gray stormwater infrastructure and identify appropriate options for shorelines.

Learners will be able to assess the benefits, drawbacks and potential contraindications of creating living shorelines.

Learners will be able to analyze the design process, implementation and adaptive management of living shorelines for a variety of site conditions.
