To achieve the ambitious goals of the ASLA Climate Action Plan, the industry of diverse businesses that supply landscape construction needs to mobilize for a transition. Designers and industry partners alike can help accelerate the transition, by starting key conversations now.

Dive into the SITES v2 material selection credits, tour through the CAPsem model of industrial ecology, and pose questions to uncover more sustainable products and practices. Engaging the capacity of industry partners to make change is key to a carbon-free and biodiversity positive future. With this in-person session, we’ll reveal tools, frameworks, and conversation starters to support the transition to a more sustainable industry.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of course participants will be able to:
1. Review the framework and goals of the ASLA Climate Action Plan.
2. Apply principles of the SITES v2 rating system to specify more sustainable products and materials.
3. Review the intent of SITES v2 Section 5 – Materials Selection: Credits 5.7-5.10 and Pilot Credit 3.
4. Identify certifications and other tools available to vet and verify environmental claims and practices.
5. Collaborate for positive change in our industry more effectively, with a contextual basis in industrial ecology and energy transition.
