Description
Explore the synergy of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) in four unique spaces. This workshop will highlight strategies to unlock the potential of Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) in transforming urban spaces. Learn how GSI creates not only vibrant green havens and park spaces but also addresses crucial needs like expanding green areas and fortifying climate resilience. Participants will leave the mobile workshop with a knowledge of the practical applications, design considerations, and collaborative approaches involved in implementing Green Stormwater Infrastructure in urban environments.

This mobile workshop takes attendees to some of Seattle’s noteworthy Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) sites, beginning at Magnuson Park, a flagship property, to explore state-of-the-art GSI facilities. Continue to the King Fisher Natural Area for an insightful examination and discussion of creek and watershed projects. Delve into the design and topography of the Madison Valley Stormwater Storage Facility, which includes a combined sewer overflow (CSO) basin. The workshop concludes at the Washington Park Arboretum and Japanese Garden, where the successful collaboration between the University of Washington and the City of Seattle is evident, showcasing a county CSO facility and the tangible results of this impactful partnership.
