Description
It is common knowledge that trees offer numerous benefits to our communities, from providing visual appeal, cooling shade, enhancing the identity of a project to sequestering carbon and supporting habitat. Yet the natural assets are often an afterthought during the planning, design and construction processes. Analyzing the existing tree canopy and clearly understanding what is possible and feasible in terms of tree preservation and/or relocation is a crucial component of planning and design. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the art and science of successful tree transplanting. Through case studies, the presentation will cover the following topics: Site Analysis and Transplant Feasibility, Tree Transplanting Equipment and Techniques, Key Factors that Determine Success, and Economics of Tree Moving.
