Description
This seven-hour course provides design professionals with detailed guidance on restoring natural areas that were lost to development. The course begins with a framework of restoration by discussing natural land systems before development, how much natural area has been lost, and the micro and macro benefits on restoration. Building on this foundational knowledge, the course will discuss site evaluation and specific project designs, including removing sources of disturbances and restoring ecological processes, soil, water, and vegetation. Then, the course explores the regulation and permitting of water resource restoration activities and discusses monitoring techniques, long-term management, and outside-the-box techniques.
