Description
This course examines the history and culture of skateboading, working with municipalities, the benefits of skateboading, choosing a skateboard site, community engagement, the design process, design integration and sustainability, and skatepark construction.

Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to discuss the skateboarding culture and dispel myths that participants engage in deviant behaviors.

Learners will be able to discuss the health and mental health benefits of skateboard parks, and they will be able to work with communities and organizations to promote these facilities.

Learners will be able to assist with selecting sites for skateparks, promote community engagement, and initiate the design process.

Learners will be able to assist with the design process of a skatepark, including cost analysis, inclusion of stormwater management, inclusion of sustainable materials, providing for resiliency, , preconstruction planning, shop drawings, earthwork, grading, drainage, forming and reinforcement.
