Description
This course will discuss the idea of changing how we design to take the aging population into consideration, and why it is important to do so. Time will be spent reviewing statistics to demonstrate the need to design for the elderly sector.
In the past, design professionals did not really had to think too much about designing for elder populations, but the expanding lifespan means we need to change how we approach our designs.
Different lifestyles will be examined to help determine the best design approaches for various conditions. Some of the topics covered will include aging in place, universal design, and the Americans with Disabilities Act and how that affects the elderly.
