A successful building starts with proportion. This session focuses on practical techniques to evaluate existing buildings and building proposals to identify and correct common proportion mistakes, and how to take a building to the next level. Do you want to tackle your first incremental development project? Maybe you sit on a local design review board, or you're just tired of not knowing why you "just don't like" that new or renovated building in town? If so, this session is for you!

Participants will explore design techniques for conveying architectural style in an understandable way to potential project investors.

Learning Objective 2:
Participants will explore several selling points of small scale development.

Learning Objective 3:
Participants will learn design techniques for integrating small infill development into existing urban fabric, making the most use of allowable square footage.

Learning Objective 4:
Participants will learn practical ways to overcoming barriers to implementing urbanism, with compact development as the primary tool.
