Description
Within the context of increased wildfire vulnerability in both Australia and California, this session will examine ways each builds resilience within communities vulnerable to wildfire. Through both theoretical and practice-based lenses, the panel will discuss topics ranging between social capital, stewardship and management practices, WUI policies, insurance, and infrastructure.

Learning Outcomes
Gain knowledge of wildfire adaptation and resilient infrastructure planning within the Wildland Urban Interface.; Understand of the specific history and causation of Australian bushfires, their parallels with and differences from California wildfires, and the resources, knowledge, practices, and technologies shared between the two.; Gain knowledge of risk management, land stewardship, and insurance structures as they relate to establishing resilient and equitable communities within fire adapted landscapes; Gain an understanding of the Fire Adaptive Communities, Fire Safe Councils, and the role of social capital in establishing cultural resiliency.
