Description
It is difficult to explain the allure of trilliums; but they are one of our most beloved and cherished groups of woodland wildflowers that trace their lineage to 60 million years ago. Currently, there are 48 species in the world; and of these a full 75% occur only in the forests of eastern North America. Bill takes you on a visually stunning tour of the genus, focusing first on the evolution, distribution, and ecology of the plants and then delving into the Piedmont species with all their individual needs and eccentricities.
Bill Cullina is the F. Otto Haas Executive Director of the Morris Arboretum. He is a well-known author, lecturer, and authority on North American native plants. His books include Wildflowers; Native Trees, Shrubs, and Vines; Native Ferns, Mosses, and Grasses; and Understanding Perennials.
