Description
This seven-hour live lecture presentation examines types of floods and floodplains, the role of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). federal, state and local floodplain regulation, flood insurance and flood-related claims, obtaining and interpreting flood maps, LOMA model requirements, and modeling floodplains.

Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to differentiate types of floodplains and and flood and causes of floods and explain the role of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and government agencies.

Learners will be able to explain when flood insurance is required and when it is recommended and what is covered and what is excluded so they are able to assist clients on site location decisions.

Learners will be able to obtain and interpret flood maps, review FEMA flood hazard determinations, and request a flood-hazard review, the protect owner fully understands the risk in building on particular sites.

Learners will be able to describe federal and state permitting requirements for developing sites that are near of encroach on floodplains.
