Description
The Ride the Rails Tour for March are the: Blue Line (Banfield Project). This is great opportunity for new employees as well as all staff that are interested in finding out the history and tour our amazing transit system. This is a TriMet approved Tour.
This on-site tour will cover the origins of the Portland Regional Light Rail Transit system’s planning decisions, alignment choices and design. Also will be how modernization of the Blue Line’s station area planning and design, transit oriented development, new advances in safety & security initiatives, coordination and integration of active transportation systems, new community outreach initiatives including highly innovation business support, inclusion of new communications technologies, new conduct of construction measures, advancements in stormwater treatments with environmental restoration of natural systems, and how careful detailing and construction strategies can help with ongoing maintenance challenges.

Learning Outcomes
• Tour will present before, during, and after conditions for the Burnside Street corridor. And how the unprecedented inclusion of light rail along a former State of Oregon highway greatly contributed to livable communities
• Tour will provide insights into an integrated approach to urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and rail corridor engineering to achieve improvements in transit operations, public vehicular safety, and active transportation
• Tour will emphasize the pioneering of a collaborative approach between cities, counties, and the State defied conventional thinking, about project design and engineering, project delivery approaches in construction and safety, and integrating cultural diversity in design, construction, and business development
