Description

This is a 6.5 hour live lecture presentation with the instructors and students together in the same room. It will be conducted in a handicap-accessible conference room with ample seating space and writing surface for all attendees. Bound written materials, authored by the faculty, will be distributed to all participants at the program. Attendance will be monitored and reported to LA/CES.

This course covers strategies for successful tree preservation, the science of tree roots, trees as elements of design, and methods to protect trees.

Learning Outcomes

Learners will be able to describe the importance of preserving trees on development sites and how the project owner, the designer, the contractor and an arborist can assist in achieving that goal.

Learners will be able to explain the science of tree roots and how this information can be used to enhance the success of tree preservation on development sites.

Learners will be able to incorporate trees in successful site design by considering the principles of critical root zones (CRZs).

Learners will be able to provide project development owners strategies for protecting trees on their sites.
