Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to explain the importance of recognizing soil properties and the need to having soils investigated before undertaking site development, particularly on sloped terrain.

Learners will be able to discuss fundamental soil characteristics and slope instability, explain strategies to improve or restore stability with construction practices, use of vegetation, and engineered slopes.

Learners will be able to identify types of slopes and distinguish types of instability, and discuss reinforced slope stability calculations, geosynthetic materials and alternatives used to achieve stability.

Learners will be able to identify methods to prevent slope failures, recognize potential problems in the field, and identify potential causes of problems or failures,
