Description
The Ride the Rails Tour for October is Light Rail Vehicles. This is great opportunity for new employees as well as all staff that are interested in finding out the history, current state, and future of TriMet’s Light Rail Vehicles which operate on our transit system.

This on-site tour will cover the existing fleet of vehicles, how they have served the agency, passenger area design, operator cab area design, safety elements, maintainability, and evolution of vehicle design.

Learning Outcomes
• Tour will present the evolution of Light Rail Vehicles from the Type1 high floor Bombardier vehicles to the Siemens 70% low floor SD660, to the Siemens 70% low floor S70 vehicles.
• Tour provide insights into how vehicle design changes how the passenger public experience transit, how our operators interact with the vehicle controls, and how the maintenance staff service and overhaul the vehicle and it’s equipment.
• Tour will discuss how being an active participant in the design process has ensured that TriMet has received a value product which works for our system.
