Description
This course will cover basic fundamentals of site lighting design criteria; topics will focus on how and why the lighting industry's design ratings have transitioned from the classic "Cutoff" LCS (Luminaire Classification System) to the new "B.U.G." rating. We will also discuss how the B.U.G. rating system has been integrated into the MLO (Model Lighting Ordinance) and how to properly integrate it into your own lighting plan to meet the requirements of your local code/ordinance.

Learning Outcomes
1. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various design guidelines that have been developed by the LCS and IES.
2. Participants will learn the intent and how the IES measures/evaluates each component of B.U.G.; back light, up light, glare.
3. Attendees will learn how to apply B.U.G. rating criteria to their design process to help determine fixture selection and fixture layout.
