DESIGN - Lighting Quality and Energy Codes – Not Mutually Exclusive

Start Date
09/26/2019
End Date
09/26/2019
Description
Foot-candles, watts and lumens are inadequate terms for describing energy-effective lighting, but these terms are often also the basis of energy codes. In this session, a vision scientist, lighting designer and energy code consultant describe how lighting quality is incorporated into California's Title 24 building energy code and Title 20 appliance energy efficiency standards. Attendees will learn about lighting quality elements within the code and how to use these metrics to create high-quality, code-compliant lighting projects. Topics include how to understand lighting quality metrics and when and how to claim lighting power allowances for quality options within the code.
