Description
Brian Payne, the founder and artistic director of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick, will present on how this $63 million, eight-mile pedestrian and bicycle pathway completed the journey from ideation to approval to funding to completion to national and international recognition. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a highly designed, beautifully paved, richly landscaped and artfully lighted trail that features $4 million of public art. The Cultural Trail connects six cultural districts and to every significant arts, cultural, heritage, sports and entertainment venue in Indianapolis’ thriving downtown. It also connects to four other major greenway trails and serves as the downtown hub of the Marion County greenway trail master plan.

Payne will discuss community partnerships, project momentum-building, fundraising, design principals, the maintenance plan and the ensuing billion dollar-plus of economic impact of the project.
