Description
This session will provide expansive insight into the St. Louis Great Streets Initiative and its powerful impact on St. Louis-regional communities since its launch in 2006. The session will cover the Great Streets Initiative’s 8 principles focused on measurable results that expands thinking beyond corridor traffic planning. A panel of community leaders will share their personal experiences and actual results derived from Great Streets Initiative projects. Speakers will present case studies ranging from master- planned to fully constructed projects including several St. Louis City neighborhoods, communities of Ferguson and Dellwood, and examples at a variety of scales and investment. Case studies will illustrate how the master planning process and creation of a community vision provided a road map to incremental change, while others will dive deeper into implemented plans, lessons learned, measured outcomes, returns on investment, and cost analysis of on-going maintenance.

Learning Outcomes
1. Participants will comprehend the principles of St. Louis Great Streets Initiative and be able to identify the characteristics of a Great Street in downtowns, residential neighborhoods, mixed-use districts, etc.
2. Participants will learn various performance metrics that can be utilized to achieve measurable outcomes impacting mobility, economic vitality, environmental performance, and other returns on investment.
3. Participants will be able to apply similar planning and engagement tools in their own projects to ensure an inclusive, holistic approach to placemaking and Great Street design.
