Description
This is a 7.0 hour live lecture presentation with the instructors and students together in the same room. It will be conducted in a handicap-accessible conference room with ample seating space and writing surface for all attendees. Bound written materials, authored by the faculty, will be distributed to all participants at the program. Attendance will be monitored and reported to LA/CES. This course covers the principles of retaining walls, geosynthetics and retaining walls, slope stabilization techniques, and retaining wall/slope failures and repairs.

Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to identify and quantify the forces that act on retaining walls.

Learners will be able to visually identify geosynthetics as to type, method of manufacture, relative strength, relative permeability, and relative cost.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to analyze slope stability and explain slope stabilization techniques.

Learners will be able to discuss how to prevent retaining wall/slope problems and failures, recognize a potential problem, analyze the causes of problems and failures, and recommend a solution.
