Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to apply open channel hydraulic analysis to assess flood risk, manage floodplains, and design roadways, bridges, and culverts.

Learners will be able to discuss hydraulic principles, including conservation of energy and momentum, energy losses and Manning's equation, and back water effects.

Learners will be able to differentiate types of water flow, including uniform flow, rapidly varied flow, and gradually varied flow and be able to calculate water profiles in HEC-RAS software.

Learners will be able to use the special elements of HEC-RAS software to improve bridge and culvert modeling.
