Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to explain the importance of conducting soil property investigations and understanding the properties of site soil prior to designing and constructing a retaining wall.

Learners will be able to identify and quantify the forces that act on retaining walls and explain how proper design can respond to those forces.

Learners will be able to describe the use of geosynthetics to stabilize terrain and visually identify geosynthetics as to type, method of manufacture, relative strength, relative permeability, and cost.

Learners will be able to assist in design strategies to prevent a potential retaining wall failure, identify typical causes of retaining wall failures, and evaluate potential retaining wall problem repairs.
