While almost any design application can give you the ability to extract data from lines and polygons, only advanced, industry-specific software tools enable site design professionals to create, model, and present site development concepts, and more importantly analyze, report, and select materials that implement those ideas appropriately. In this webinar with Eric Gilbey, PLA, ASLA, Prof. Member APLD, attendees will examine built and theoretical projects to discover how to use these tools to not only achieve their business goals, but also meet objectives from SITES and LEED as proposed in SITES v2 Rating System for Sustainable Landscapes and LEED v4 (BD+C) for New Construction & Major Renovations.

Learning Outcomes
1. Evaluate how GIS (Geographic Information System) and other file integrations within digital design workflows can assist in site selection.

2. Recognize the benefits of collaborating with an integrated design team during pre-design assessment and planning regarding file exchange expectations.

3. Discover how site information modeling (SIM) features such as informative polygons; 3D digital terrain models and hybrid plant data objects; plant databases, solar animations, and custom reports; and many others can be essential tools in meeting the objectives of a sustainable site and documenting LEED and SITES credits.

4. Examine how to use plant objects’ data and custom reports to obtain information and document designs and baseline cases for LEED/SITES Water Efficiency credits.
