Description
Learn about innovative new developments in survey technology. Using 3D laser scanners and drones, hear how to scan fields, tracks, and tennis surfaces and get “heat maps” to millimeter accuracy, that show the low and high spots in the surface. See how colored heat maps overlay on site utility plans and illustrate how low spots in the field correlated to abandoned utilities. Also, hear how the Cincinnati Bengals used this scanning technology to improve field planarity and provide an exact quantity of material needed to bring the field back into ASBA planarity tolerances.

Learning Outcomes
Through this session, the participants will learn the concepts of both 3-D Laser Scanning and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Surveying, and where each application is appropriate; Learn how 3-D scanning and UAV surveying can save field time, increase safety, and reduce trips to the site; Learn how 3-D scanning can be used to generate exact project material quantities; Learn how 3-D scanning was used at Paul Brown Stadium (Home of the Cincinnati Bengals) to improve field planarity and pinpoint underground utilities before they were excavated.
