This session will cover different testing methods Contractors can conduct in the field to determine soil and drainage characteristics about their site prior to or with limited geotechnical report information, and how this information ultimately affects their construction means and methods for completing the project.

Learning Outcomes
Through this session, the participant will learn methods to determine general soil classifications and characteristics through simple hands-on testing; learn methods to determine qualitative and quantitative drainage and permeability characteristics through rudimentary testing; how to generally apply soil classification determination into potential needs for subgrade preparation for field construction; and determine best management practices most applicable to handle storm water runoff management based on site drainage conditions and topography.
