An introduction to the FIH’s international recognized Quality Program for Hockey Turf, discussing the different types of surfaces and fields that can be used for the various forms of field hockey. The session will provide guidance on how the FIH Quality Program can assist those investing in and those designing and building field hockey facilities.

Learning Outcomes
Through this session, the participant will understand what are the generic forms of synthetic turf surfacing that can be used for field hockey and the suitability of each, for the different levels of play; The basics of the FIH Hockey Turf and Field Standards, including details of how turf products and fields are assessed and the benefits of approval and certification to the various parties involved in providing hockey facilities; what are the FIH’s preferred field colors; what levels of artificial lighting are best for broadcast and non-broadcast field hockey matches; The intentions of the FIH Hockey Plus initiative, a strategy to promote the development of multi-sports fields on which good hockey can be played.
