This large group format class involves a walking tour of the numerous lighting plans and various vignettes located within the B-K Lighting business park (including neighboring buildings). This class takes place well after sunset just prior to student departures. Each student is provided a wifi enabled headset that allows the class instructor to easily communicate the ideas, technical information and lecture to the participants as the group examines various vignettes in situ. Lighting techniques examined and contrasted include: front lighting (for accent and highlighting objects), back lighting (for contrast), side lighting (for shadowing and texture), perimeter lighting (for safety and security). Interaction with solid state, metal halide, compact fluorescent, and low voltage halogen sources are included. Demonstration of Dark Sky lighting techniques and the requirements of a lighting fixture warranting compliance is also included.
