Pollinator Event & Perennial Island Garden Tour

Start Date
06/20/2018
End Date
06/20/2018
Description
Special presentation about monarch butterflies and other pollinators while we walkabout in Midwest Groundcovers Perennial Island.

We will have 3 presenters:
Richard Hawke - What are the best perennial plants to attract pollinators? Richard will discuss a variety of native plants, nativars (cultivars of a native species), and a few exotics that have been top-performers in the Chicago Botanic Garden’s trials.

Janie Grillo - Monarchs are one of the most recognized and loved butterflies. However, their population, as well as that of many pollinators, is in decline. We’ll look at their lifecycle, fascinating annual cycle and the many plants that may be incorporated in the landscape to help support them. If nature cooperates, the presentation will include live monarchs.

Austin Eischeid - I will be taking you on a tour of the new Perennial Island showing you some of my favorite perennials and telling you how to use them in your next garden.
