Native Plants in the Landscape - Native Berries for Migratory Birds

Start Date
06/08/2018
End Date
06/08/2018
Description
Fall fruits are extensively utilized by migratory birds and may help to support the high energetic demands of migrants. But all fruits are not created equal and there may be nutritional implications of introduced fruits for birds. Successful habitat management for migrating songbirds could incorporate many native plants that produce calorific, high-fat, and antioxidant-rich berries in order to support the health and condition of birds.
