Description
One of the major aspects adding to the richness of our regional landscapes is the prevalence of broad-leaved evergreens. This diverse group of plants adds interests throughout the year and serves a variety of landscape functions. Outstanding foliage, showy flowers, brilliant fruit, and interesting textural contrasts make broad-leaved evergreens a superior group of plants for year-round garden interest. This course will focus on the identification, culture, and landscape use of a number of broad-leaved evergreens suitable for use in the garden. It will provide the student with the fundamental understanding of identification and use of the most important core shrubs and trees suitable for the Mid-Atlantic region.
