The historic account of the evolution of the suburban office landscape in the United States is discussed from its origins with big corporations in the post second world war era until the most recent projects unveiled at the heart of Silicon Valley.
The needs for greater density, multi-use, and public transportation as a way to have more resource efficient landscapes provides unique challenges with regard to the suburban large office parks of the post war era. These challenges, influences, and potential solutions are discussed.
