Sustainable Solutions: Human Health and Well-Being (RV-10484)

Start Date
End Date
Discussions of health often focus on illness. However, human health is more than the absence of disease or infirmity: it is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Sustainable sites help people live healthier, fuller lives by supporting all aspects of human health and by integrating opportunities for safe and convenient physical activity, social interaction, and mental restoration into our daily routine.
This course emphasizes the importance of using site design to increase physical activity within a community and provides strategies for doing so. It addresses the subject of maintaining positive mental health through the integration of natural landscapes. Strategies for implementing opportunities for social interaction among adults and spontaneous play among children are also discussed.
