Landscape architects are often responsible for the design of stormwater systems that promote specific levels of performance. This session will describe current initiatives to document performance, protocols for measuring performance, ways to design more effective systems, and the challenges the profession could face when levels of performance aren't realized.

1) Be familiar with current research and monitoring of best management practices (BMP) performance sponsored by the EPA. 2) Develop an understanding of protocols to effectively measure BMP performance. 3) Learn about key measures to more accurately align theoretical and actual performance. 4) Learn about evolving federal regulations regarding design and performance, and potential liabilities and pitfalls for projects that fail to perform as designed.
