Site Engineering for Landscape Architects: Grading (RV-10710)
A clear understanding of what grading represents is fundamental to the grading design process. In this course we will compare environmental and functional restraints. You will get information and instruction on design problems of both types of elements, slope formula, and storm runoff. We'll also cover methods for grading terraces, the grading process phases, and the grading plan.
Health, Safety and Welfare
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Differentiate between environmental and functional restraints when designing a grading scheme.
Identify design problems related to linear and planar elements.
Demonstrate the various uses of the slope formula.
Describe how storm runoff can be diverted around and away from structures.
Distinguish the three ways in which a terrace can be graded.
Summarize the three phases of the grading process.
Recognize the elements of a grading plan.
