Description
Mr. Stick's lecture "Looking at Gardens", based on an upcoming book by the same title, will provide an in depth and detailed view of the many ways in which historic precedent and classical design principles in garden making and the allied arts have formed the core of a nationally renowned practice of landscape architecture that has now spanned a period of over twenty years.

Learning Outcomes
1. How classical gardens have influenced Mr. Stick's design process for today's gardens.
2. How the classical and traditional principles of design espoused by Thomas Jefferson have influenced Mr. Stick's work.
3. Through an essay of gardens, Mr. Stick will share how he has designed gardens for the human scale with the integration of the house and garden into a harmonious whole as the dominant theme and emphasis of his work.
4. Mr. Stick will demonstrate the Jeffersonian ideal of a livable, functional and beautiful landscape in harmony with its architecture as a constant theme throughout his work.
