Description
The Winchester Pedestrian Mall along Loudoun Street in Old Town Winchester is a complete revitalization of an existing pedestrian-only commercial district. Located along Winchester’s historic core, formerly pedestrian mall had started to show signs of deterioration both above and below grade. City leaders and staff lead the charge to energize this heart of the city by first creating a scope of work that included planning through construction documentation and ultimately event programming.

The presentation will review key components of the redesign including complete utility and storm water replacement within the mall, and the addition of three monumental gateways, fountains, temporary ice rink, new paving, seating, lighting, and plantings.

Learn about how from the minute the Mall revitalization was completed, it has been a major community gathering and event space thanks to the city’s ongoing programming efforts.
