A Geographic Information System (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data used for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. A GIS gives you the power to create maps, integrate information, visualize scenarios, present powerful ideas, and develop effective business solutions. Some applications for GIS in the nursery and landscape industry include inventory management, water resource application, and landscape maintenance analysis and management. Attendees will also learn how GIS can increase efficiency, assist in better decision making, improve communication, provide better recordkeeping, and manage information geographically.
